SSIC
The Shadgan Steel Industry Company (SSIC) is one of the eight national steel projects that were approved as part of comprehensive steel industry studies in 2003 (1382 AH) as a prerequisite for the Third, Fourth, and Fifth National Economic Development Plans. The groundbreaking ceremony for the company took place in 2006 (1385 AH). The company is located southeast of Shadgan, 35 kilometers from the city, and 10 kilometers from Bandar Imam Khomeini, covering an area of 260 hectares.
In 2014 (1393 AH), 65% of the company’s shares were transferred to Khuzestan Steel Company, while the remaining 35% was assigned to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO). SSIC is the first steel production complex in the country to use the PERED (Persian Reduction) method, and after ten years of efforts by skilled staff and specialists, it achieved its nominal annual capacity of 800,000 tons, commencing operations in 2017 (1396 AH).
